Match Report
Sunday 23rd January k.o 2pm Home v Cockerham
Ripon Reds 1 Cockerham 2
This tough game against top of the league Cockerham, we more than held our own. We took the lead early on, when a great run by Harry D fed Stuart and eventually to Ewan who finished well. Then an injury to our goal scorer led to our opponents equalizing, with a well placed shot. We conceded another goal on the stroke of half time allowing the centre forward a free header. The second half Ripon were camped in our opponents half with efforts by Stuart, Joe P and Tommy all unlucky. To come away with nothing was unjust for our team who put so much effort into the game. We matched the league leaders and this bodes well for the forthcoming games.
Man of the match
For his bravery and courage returning to the field after being injured and for his strong effort throughout was Ewan.

Sunday 21st November
Ripon Reds vs Ribbleton FC
Ripon went 3-0 up early in the first half with goals from stuart, joe p and james direct from a corner, the month without a game showed, coupled
with Ryan our captain and George missing through illness and injury. Ribbleton got a goal back in the second half.
Final score 3-1.
This game is best forgotten and the lads need now to concentrate on a tough game away to highflying bamber bridge.
Man of the match for his role as stand in captain and a hard working display in midfield was Ewan.
Sunday 5th September
Ripon Reds 6 Hoole 3
In our first home game of the new season and in our new division we couldnt have got off to a better start with Ewan scoring in the first few minutes with an expertly taken free kick. This was shorlty followed by a strong run and great finish from Alex to make it 2 – 0. With the strong wind behind us we kept pusing forward and were rewarded when last season’s top scorer Stuart made it 3. Hoole battled well against the wind and played some good football which was rewarded with a goal before half time. The score would have been more heavily in our favour without the great performance from Hoole’s goalkeeper.
The second half had us with the wind in our faces and expecting an onslought. Alex turned from goalscorer to goalkeeper when Shaun had to leave the field unwell. The lads got into their passing game quickly and Stuart scored again soon after the break which pushed the game deservedly in our favour. Ewan then beat their keeper with a great finish at the near post to put the game beyond Hoole at 5 – 1. Hoole scored with a carbon copy of Ewan’s first half free kick and pulled another back with a goal direct from the keeper (one bounce and over Alex). Ewan rounded off a good performance with his hat trick from midfield to secure the 3 points.
In summary a great start to the new season but I’m sure greater challenges await the lads.
Man of the Match
This could have gone to a number of players but it was decided due to his second half dominance and control in midfield, Billy should be awarded this weeks man on the match.
