Our presentation night this year was held on 4th June at The Invincibles Lounge, Preston North End – and what a great night we had.

It was a great turn out with over 200 people attending on the night and spirits were not dampened to much by the fire alarm.

Preston Sports Forum Annual Awards Dinner

Friday 12th March Guild Hall Preston

The committee and a selection of the managers of Ripon Reds JFC attended the Preston Sports Forum Annual Awards dinner at the Guild Hall in Preston.  We received nominations for Club of the year and two nominations for Volunteer of the year, one of which had been shortlisted to final three.

The event was attended by many sporting clubs in the Preston area including Preston Swimming Club, Preston Pirates BMX Club and Fishwick Rangers.  The guest speaker was the Olympic 400 metre Bronze medalist from the 2000 Sydney games Kathryn Merry.  She provided an insight into the sacrifices and sheer determination needed to achieve success.

We are delighted to announce that Jackie Hall our club secretary received a highly commended award in the Volunteer of the year award for all her hard work and commitment to our club over the last year.  I’m sure you will join me in crongratulating Jackie on her award and thanking her for all her work.

Sponsored Walk and FA Charter Standard Presentation

 Saturday 27th February 2010

Thankfully the weather was with for the Ripon Reds sponsored walk and FA Charter Standard presentation on the 27th February.  I was pleased to see a fantastic turnout from all the teams and their respective managers and parents.  The boys comfortably completed 5 laps of Moor Park in the allocated time and were treated to lunch afterwards with a visit from PNE’s Barry Nicholson.  All the teams received a signed team photo and were given the opportunity to have a question and answer session with Barry before he had to leave to attend the game.
All the boys were impecably behaved on the walk to PNE and again throughout the FA Charter Standard presentation.  A good result for PNE finished off a great day for Ripon Reds where all the teams can be proud of their fund raising efforts and representation of the club.  Dont forget that the hard work now comes with the money collection!

Ripon Reds JFC Sponsored Walk and FA Charter Standard Presentation

Saturday 27th February 2010

FA

Ripon Reds JFC are organising a sponsored walk for Sat 27th Feb 2010 to coincide with being presented with our FA Charter Standard Award on the pitch before the PNE vs. Cardiff City game.  All club players should have by now received their sponsor forms from each team manager/coach and an accompanying letter to explain the format of the day.

We will be walking around Moor Park starting at 10.30am and hope to complete 5 laps before 12.30 – 1.00pm.  All players, managers/coaches and parents will then convene at Moor Park Conservative Club for a hot lunch provided by the club.  We will then proceed, as a club, to PNE to watch the game against Cardiff City and prior to kick off be presented with our FA Charter Standard Award.

There is no cost for players attending the game  but a small charge is payable for parents/carers wishing to attend (all details are available through your respective manager/coach).

All parents are encouraged to join us on this great day for the club and please feel free to bring any siblings of players although Ripon Reds JFC cannot be held responsible for any loss or injury incurred on the day.  We need a ratio of 1 adult to 4 children on the walk so can you please let your manager/coach know ASAP if you, or our players, are unavailable to attend?

If you have any queries regarding this event please do not hesitate to contact a member of the committee (all contact details are available on the ‘Committee’ page of this website) or alternatively your team manager should be be able to help you.

Many thanks for your continued support of Ripon Reds JFC

FA Charter Club Standard

FA

It is with great pleasure I can announce that Ripon Reds JFC has been awarded FA Charter Club Standard status.

The FA Charter Standard Scheme is a core component of The FA Football Development programme. The scheme establishes minimum standards for football development and acts as a quality assurance mechanism recognising well run clubs.
In summary the FA Charter Standard rewards organisations who demonstrate a commitment to raising standards in the following areas:

  •  Administration
  • Coaching
  • Child Protection

This award has been achieved through the hard work and determination of Jackie Hall as our Charter Standard representative, we all owe her a depth of gratitude for the work she has put in.

Our thanks must also go to Sue Sergeant for her work in assisting Jackie in putting together the managers packs and getting all the relevant documentation in place for our application.

A great day for Ripon Reds JFC and another step forward in us achieving our goal of creating a fantastic junior football club.

Ripon Reds in Lancashire Evening Post

Ripon Reds JFC had a great editorial in the Lancashire Evening Post on Thursday 1st October’s.  The content is as follows;

Ripon Reds on a roll

Published Date: 01 October 2009
A youth football club in Preston have started the season with a spring in their step.
In the past nine months, the Fulwood-based club have gone from strength to strength on and off the pitch.

The club successfully applied for grants from the Preston Sports Forum, The Football Foundation and the ’02 it’s your community’ grant, and for good measure, they have also gained sponsorship from Preston-based Peugeot dealers Robins & Day, GB Catering Engineers, The Norman Jepson and Safestyle UK.

The funding has been used to purchase much needed kit and training equipment.

Treasurer Susan Sergeant said: “This time last year it was looking unlikely that the club would be able to continue operating due to lack of finances and lack of commitment.

“But in January 2009, a new committee came into place and the club is now going from strength to strength.

“We now 63 players signed on for this season playing for five teams ranging from Under-9s to Under-14s playing in both the Central Lancs Junior League and Mid Lancs Colts League.

“We are also working towards the Charter Standard Award which we are hoping to complete later this year.”

If any youngsters want to join this growing club, ring 07825 108107 for more details.

FA Respect Campaign

At Ripon Reds JFC we are strong supporters of the FA Respect campaign.

This campaign is in place to highlight the pressures placed on young footballers by unacceptable behaviour from coaches and parents.

Please take the time to view the new Respect video launched by the FA which helps to improve behaviour within the game into this new season.
